At Gatwick Airport forming both ends of the Brighton to Preston Virgin Cross Country service on 12 May 2000 hauled by class 47, 47839. This service will be routed to the north via Clapham Junction and Kensington Olympia.

An unidentified class 47 working the Saturdays Only Manchester - Eastbourne service and with raised alloy "double arrows" passes Berwick at speed. This used to start from Manchester around 7:00 a.m. and arrive in Eastbourne in time for lunch, having made a pretty leisurely journey via Birmingham, Reading and the West London line.
