Vale Viaduct

Vale Viaduct, north of Wivelsfield station, photographed on 2nd August 2009. photograph by Gregory Beecroft   This eight-arch viaduct carries the Brighton line over a tributary of the River Ouse north of Wivelsfield station. It is in red brick and much plainer than Ouse Viaduct, to the north, but it has some features in common, most notably the relieving arches in the piers. However, Vale viaduct has pairs of openings, whereas Ouse has single large arches. photograph by Gregory Beecroft
