Regarding my model of 36001 Leader, I drew inspiration for it from Len
Vass's article in Railway Modeller a few years ago, but chose to model mine
using two Lima 55 bodyshells. The cab ends are cut from plasticard and the roof
profile built up with filler. The chassis was a bit more difficult, the outer
frames being soldered up from brass to contain a Lima 6 wheeled motor bogie.
Obviously, the holes in the chassis and gears had to be reamed out to 1/8"
to accomodate the Markits Bulleid wheelsets. All in all it was a fascinating
project to research and build.
