| The single track platform at Lympstone, penultimate
station on the line from Exmouth Junction to Exmouth, photographed on 6th April

The same platform with a pair of class 142 "Pacer"
DMUs en route to Exmouth. Recently introduced to the west country, these units
were based on the Leyland National bus and share a number of common components.
Following an accident between Blackpool and Liverpool on 11th June 2009, the
subsequent enquiry recommended these units be withdrawn and replaced in the
near future with heavier, more sturdy, Sprinters. However, at present there is
none available.
