Looking up the line from the down platform starting signals can
be seen on both the up and down lines, allowing access to the branch from the
down platform road. The main goods yard is on the right with just a single
siding on the up side of the station. The Sidmouth branch turned off to the
right shortly before the overbridge, and the turntable was in the vee between
the branch and a siding alongside the main line.

The goods shed with in front of it, the station running-in board
proclaiming this was the place to change for Ottery St Maty, Tipton St Johns,
Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton etc. (unless you were fortunate enough to be in a
through coach for the branch). The porter seems happy carrying nags, and seeing passengers across the crossing and thereby saving them from having to walk to the far end of the station to the footbridge. photograph by Chris Knowles-Thomas |

| A shed! There was more than one shed at Sidmouth Junction and it
is not immediately clear what was the purpose of this one. Does anybody know?
