Footbridges
Footbridges are far from the most glamorous of railway artefacts, but they are very necessary for safe transit by passengers when needing to access another platform or an exit on the far side of the track(s) or simply for the general public to cross over the railway. Frequently made from steel, with wooden treads on the steps and for walking above the line, they can also be made of concrete, especially those produced by the Southern Railway at the Exmouth Junction concrete works.
Here is a selection:
Bognor
The footbridge at Bognor, which is for crossing the railway rather than from one platform to another, with the Signalbox immediately behind. Made from steel with lattice work sides that haven't stood the test of time too well!

Egham
The original footbridge at Egham station on 3rd Aparil 2009. Now just used as a means to cross the railway in former times there were steps up from the Down platform allowing entrance from or exit to the car park, out of sight to the right.

Ewell West
The former footbridge at Ewell West station, taken circa 1960, looking beneath the road bridge towards the footbridge beyond. The hidden part of the footbridge was a mirror image of the visible steps seen on the Up platform.
